| Brainf*** is an esoteric programming language with less than a handful of commands that are all single character commands. In spite of this, Brainf*** is in fact a turing-complete programming language. It was first conceived and created with the goal in mind of creating a programming language with the smallest necessary compiler, it still holds that record. Brainf***'s extreme minimalism stems directly from this desire for a tiny compiler. EDIT: Yes, it's name really does contain the curse word. It has this name for a reason. Just take a look at the helloworld Brainf*** program that is variously posted in a couple of places around this forum and you'll see very clearly the reason for it's namesake.

| It purpose was the joke, but because they wanted the joke to be good, and so they could smite the language that they developed brainf*ck, made it into a actual working language. Read up on it more man. | |
